The Friends gave a grant to assist the purchase at auction in London of a beautiful painting attributed to Jan van Belcamp (1610-1653) and its return to Ireland. It is a portrait of King Charles I and was formerly part of the collection in Castletown House, Celbridge, County Kildare, Speaker Conolly’s great house in the care of the OPW and the Castletown Foundation, where it is now on public display.
